Atelier Forme is a small interior practice working slowly across residences, restaurants and one good bookshop. We design with what's already there — light, ground, the way you cross the threshold — and then we add as little as we can.
A 76 m² literary space asked us for a room that would still feel right in fifty years. We answered with one long oak shelf, lime-washed plaster, and three windows that we refused to cover.
A bookshop without a single right-angle corner. We pulled out the suspended ceiling, recovered the timber roof trusses, and built one continuous oak ribbon that runs from the threshold out to the back garden — bench, then shelf, then counter, then desk. Books are organised by hand-set typography. Customers stay too long.
Six recent works. Reorder them however you'd like to read the practice — by mood, programme, finish, or year. Your sequence persists for the visit.
Every project starts with a five-finish board. Tap or hover to see the same room rendered in each palette — the way our specifications actually meet light.
We don't run parallel phases. Each door closes before the next opens; you sign off the room before we draw a single fixture.
Two long conversations on site. We learn how you actually use the room before we sketch anything.
Hand drawings, three options, presented in person on butter paper. No renders yet.
Materials selected together against actual samples in actual light. Five-finish board signed off.
We bring the trades, run the program, and visit the site twice a week until you can move back in.
Six-month and one-year revisits. We photograph the room with you in it. The plate becomes a monograph.
Atelier Forme is small on purpose. The principal who pitches your project is the one who draws every floor plan and visits the site on Saturday.
Iliana studied architecture in Madrid and worked under Carmen Pinós before moving to Sydney. Toma trained as a cabinet-maker in Munich before his architecture degree at RMIT. The studio sits above a wine merchant in Surry Hills; sample boards line the stairs.
We open four new commissions per year. The waitlist is honest — usually six to nine months — and we'll call you back ourselves.
